Player notifications
Players receive in-app notifications for key events in their league activity. The bell icon in the top navigation shows a red badge when there are unread notifications.
Types of notifications

Notification bell
Clicking the bell icon opens a dropdown panel showing all unread notifications. Each notification shows:
- A title and optional detail message
- A relative timestamp (e.g. “2h ago”)
- An action button or link where relevant
Team join requests can be approved or denied directly from the notification dropdown — no need to navigate to the team management page.
Once a notification is actioned or dismissed it is removed from the unread list. Click Mark all read to clear all notifications at once.
Email game reminders
Fieldday can automatically email players before their games. Each player receives one digest email per game day listing all their games for that day — not one email per game.

How it works
- Each player gets one email per game day, listing all their games that day in a single digest.
- Reminders are not sent for cancelled or postponed games.
- Players can opt out in their profile under Notification Preferences → Email reminders.
SMS game reminders (pre-game)
Send automated SMS messages to players before each game. You can configure multiple reminders per game — for example, one at 2 hours out and another at 30 minutes.
SMS reminders require a valid phone number on the player’s profile. Players must have SMS enabled in their Notification Preferences to receive texts. Reminders are only sent to opted-in players.
SMS reminders require the Pro plan or higher.
Set up reminders
The master toggle at the top of the SMS section enables the feature for your org. Once enabled, click Add reminder to create your first reminder. Add as many as you need.

Keep your message short and action-oriented. Something like “You’ve got a game tonight — see you on the court!” works well within the 100-character limit.
How reminders are sent
When SMS reminders are enabled, the system automatically sends each configured reminder to all eligible players on both teams at the scheduled time before each game. Reminders are not sent for cancelled or postponed games.
Game-Day Morning SMS
The Game-Day Morning SMS is a daily digest sent on game day (after 7 am local time) listing all of a player’s games for that day in one message.
This is different from pre-game reminders — it’s player-controlled, not configured by the org. No setup is needed on the admin side.
How players enable it
Players go to their profile and turn on Notification Preferences → Game Day SMS. They need a phone number saved on their profile to receive it.
What the message includes
One SMS per game day listing every game the player has that day — date, time, and court (if set) for each game.
Announcements
For one-off messages outside of automated reminders, org admins can send email or SMS announcements directly to players via Admin → Messages. Use this for schedule changes, event news, or anything time-sensitive that doesn’t fit the automated reminder flow.
